Kinsol Trestle Boardwalk
Kinsol Trestle Boardwalk
Created by Daly Photography

This is one of our early photos and also one of my favorites.
The Kinsol Trestle was once a train trestle located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is now repurposed as a boardwalk linked to a hiking trail.
I discovered Vancouver Island initially through my work at the airline. The overnight was always one of my favorites for the sheer beauty and tranquility.
We had the opportunity to vacation here, rent a car, and explore the island several years ago. The weather was somewhat rainy off and on with a lingering mist. I had not started carrying a travel tripod back then. In order to compensate for the low light and possible camera shake, I leaned on the railing to steady myself. I used as fast a shutter speed as I could to preserve clarity while using as large an aperture setting as I could to maintain the focus of the lines throughout the depth of the photo.
I shoot in RAW format (Thanks Glenn Baylen for introducing me to this concept) and converted this photo to black and white in Adobe Lightroom during the post processing.
This photograph (along with three others) was used as a submission for the voting process to join a local gallery. We were successfully voted into the gallery and we were specifically complimented on this photograph for our lines and framing. The original photograph and frame was given as a gift.
